Southgate Elementary School is a neighborhood school located in the southwest part of Austin. We serve students in grades one through four. We also house two district-wide elementary programs: Pi Academy (for the highly able) and the setting III ASD/DCD program. In the 2020-2021 school year we have approximately 525 students in our building.

Students at Southgate receive instruction in reading, math, and writing. Science, social studies, and health are also areas of focus. All children have physical education classes twice a week, music twice a week, and art once a week. Children can check out books as frequently as they like at our IMC (library). Classes also use the computer labs, classroom student computers, and Ipads to demonstrate their learning and engage in learning computational thinking skills.
